I watched today Geoglossum species in Botanical Garden of Helsinki. There were one Geoglossum without ascis and spores ? There were really big spores which were about twenty micrometers, but I do not which they are? Is this how typical for Geoglossaceae to be juvenile I mean without ascis and ascopores? I do not know about life stage of Geoglossaceae almost anything ????
Paraphyses this had.
I think asexual morph Geoglossum do not have? Am I right ?
Picture is from those big spores like on the picture ????
Best regards Martti

Re : Sterile Geoglossum or only juvenile ?
Dear Martti,
these round objects are no ascospores of a Geoglosssum, perhaps Laccaria tortilis or a Myxomycete.
cheers,
Stip

Re : Sterile Geoglossum or only juvenile ?
I did not attach the picture of fruitingbody because it is quite typical Geoglossaceae, but yes I really think that is only immature Geoglossum. I have not seen before immature Geoglossum but I also found one from my own collection. So maybe it is only too young or then without ascis on whole life ????
Best regards Martti
