Lachnum spec. on Acer pseudoplatanus
Gernot Friebes, 09-06-2009 17:28
Hello,

I found this single apothecium on bark between mosses of an old, living Acer pseudoplatanus.

Asci: IKI bb and croziers(+).
Paraphyses: up to 7 µm broad, without reflecting VBs and up to 15 µm protruding.
Spores: 7,5-9 x 2-2,5 µm.
Hairs: up to 70 x 4,5 µm and sometimes somehow capitate

I thought of Lachnum impudicum but the paraphyses are way to broad. Can you please help me with identification?

Best wishes,

Gernot

Hi Gernot
is a bit a sparse collection :-) Yes, L. impudicum does not have such broad paraphyses. I suspect it is L. virgineum, although the hairs are a bit short. L. subvirgineum has shorter but capitate hairs which is not the case here.

Hi Zotto,

thanks! I did not think of L. virgineum because of the short hair. And yes, one apothecium is not a lot but it also has the right to get determined ;).

Best wishes,

Gernot
