Possibly 'Calonectria ilicicola' on 'ilex aquifolium'?
Mick Peerdeman, 20-11-2025 12:38
Dear all,

Last week i stumbled upon a leaf of ilex aquifolium with strange circulair markings in the netherlands,
I came across this paper that mentions "Calonectria ilicicola" and i think that might be the correct species:
https://imafungus.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.5598/imafungus.2010.01.02.01

I was wondering if anyone could confirm this species based on how it looks and on how the spores look, or if DNA analysis is necessary to be certain? (see attatched photos)

(First time poster, i tried to do my best to crop the images to the correct file size)

With kind regards,
Mick
