10-13 x 2-2,5 µm

Re:Asco brun orange
Cher Gilbert & Andreas
Andreas seems to be very close. I think I know this species from two collections from Switzerland (around Luzern), on Urtica. It is different from roseobrunneola especially in the less allantoid spores having two big drops. But both (apparently undescribed) species have inamyloid asci. What did you see, a blue reaction? In MLZ or Lugol?
Could you please send me the material, at best in fresh state? From your drawing the spore drops look different and remind me of Trichopeziza subsulphurea, but there the paraphyses are usually smooth.
Thanks
Zotto

Re:Asco brun orange
Bonjour,
Amicalement,
Andreas

Re:Asco brun orange
Yes, T. roseobrunneola (I call it presently T. perrotioides) has no croziers and always grows on woody substrate. The one on Urtica has croziers.

Merci encore

Hi Gilbert, Michel, Ueli
I got on saturday Gilbert's specimen, quite senescent, but possible to identify. I got the same fungus from Ueli on Monday, again very senescent, but Ueli sent me also some dry stems with plenty of apos, and these were still +/- alive. I will soon report more detailed.

Re:Asco brun orange
Now here are the spores of Gilbert's find. My data are:
Ap. 0.5-1.5 mm diam. Asci without dome, IKI-. Sp. *(8.5-)10-12(-14.5) x 2.8-3 µm, large LB 1.2-1.6 µm diam, often also 1 terminal LB 1-1.2 µm, and some minute, not germinating, no septum in senescent apothecia. Hairs light sulphur-yellow throughout. Paraphyses (dead ) distinctly warted.
The croziers I did not see, because the material arrived senescent.

Bonsoir,
Merci encore

Re:Asco brun orange
here are the yellow hairs. The problem with yellow colours is a frequent one, also in yellow Orbilias. Macro and micro is almost without yellow if I use my halogen lamp under micro, not much better with small LEDs at macro. Only with the 3 W Luxeon-LED which I got from Guy, the yellow appears, perhaps too strong. I admit I always use automatic white balance, so the result depends on some accidental circumstances. Anyhow I am quite sure that I hardly get the yellow as strong as I wished from my impression with the naked eye, even under halogen the hairs look much more yellow than on the Coolpix photo.
