According Mycobank some Polystigma, such as P. truncatum, were published in Gola "The mycological herbarium of PA Saccardo" (Padua, 1830). This book is a catalog of exsiccata herbarium of the Italian botanist. Gola writes: "Not all specific names have been published, and some of them are to be considered as nomen nudum" (p. V). When Gola lists P. truncatum (Ellis) recombination should be attributed to Saccardo or Gola?

Re : Nomenclatural note (2)
Well, it's difficult to answer.
1) You need to verify how the name is published in the herbarium sample (to verify if a description is provided)
2) You need to verify how the combination is cited in the Gola's publication
These informations are important to verify the validity of the basionym and the validity of the combination (and of course the author).
