I collected this mollisia growing on wood.
data:
Size up to 1.5mm diameter.
KOH + (yellow)
Size Asci 73-81 x 6.5-7.5um.
Asci IKI + (blue)
septate spores
Followings the key mollisias, but did not get to determine the species.
Can anyone help?
Thank you.
Susana

Re : Mollisia
Hi Susana
did you see also living asci? It seems that the spores are septate already prior to discharge, because all of them are septate, but this should be ascertained. Your ascus measurements refer to the dead state?

Yes! I see two living asci and they contain septate spores.
Several collections with septate spres are in my documents (cytisi, atlantica), but all are KOH-. Did you take a photo of the yellow reaction to be sure?

Re : Mollisia
I know it is difficult to get the yellow colour visible on digiphotos. At least it cannot be strong in your case.
I have not seen much colletions of this group of septate-spored lignicolous species, so I have no clear concept. Maybe Luis Quijada gets more progress in the matter, he also does sequencing on these Mollisias.
Was the wood lying on the moist ground? Any idea of the host genus?

Re : Mollisia
It was on a old picket fence, and I think it may be oak.
Thanks,
