Maren KamkeHi everybody,
apothecia beneath the surface and breaking the bark, up to 1 mm diameter, hymenium light olive-yellow. Asci 89x10 µm, IKl stains the ascuswall in young asci blue. Spores 52-65 x 2,5-3 µm, 6-septate, difficult to see. Paraphyses septate up to 3µm wide, apikal slightly tapering.
Thank you for your help
Regards, Maren

Re : Unknown asco on Cirsium sp.
Hi Maren

undoubtedly this is a Karstenia. To be sure, the periphysoids at the margin could be verified by a section, they must reach down to the base of the lateral hymenium.

The iodine reaction is red (hemiamyloid) for the entire asci. After KOH the hymenium reacts deep blue.

It looks to me to be K. macer. Here a marginal section, and the apos and spores of another collection (spores *47-62 x 2.3-2.5 µm).

Hi Zotto,
thank you very much. Karstenia macer, I think this is it. I attached two Asci-Images (IKI) with and without KOH-treatment.
