This tiny, rather "rough" erumpent asco was found
Scutellinia pennsylvanica?

This was found on moorland peaty soil. The nearest I can get with Schumacher is Scutellinia pennsylvanica which is predominantly found on wood although Schumacher notes '... more rarely on soil'.
Apothecia 4-5 mm.
Hairs bi-, tri- and multi-furcate. Marginal hairs mainly 540-610 x 19-24 but a few much longer. Excipular hairs 380-500 x 22-34.
Spores 16.6-19.0 x 12.7-14.9. Me = 17.9 x 13.8 Q = 1.3
Asci 280-350 x 19-22.
I have been without my microscopes all summer and no longer have this specimen (from August).
Any help welcome.
Regards, Chris

Hi Crhis
The nearest species is S. decipiens, with similar but bigger spores.

Thanks Miguel'.
I looked at S. decipiens but decided that the spores were too broad to fit my measurements.

Thanks Chris
Now I have a larger study with more storage room, I'll start keeping some specimens.
