Our revision of Marthamycetales (Leotiomycetes) is

Substrate is not common (normally leaves, twigs)
Fruitbodies less than 1mm diam., solitary + gregarious, apparently sessile, tufty but white hairs (incrustrated) not sticking out too far, inner face ?, spores like teardrops +/- 7x4µm, with apicule.
Did some reading on Flagelloscypha (niveola), Cyphella, Calathella, Seticyphella, Lachnella but ?

Can somebody help me?

I am afraid you observed the conidia of your Hypoxylon.
Regards,
Bernard

Hi Francine,
I do not see a cyphelloid basidiomycete in your pictures.
The Hypoxylon (fragiforme) is covered by (its own?) conidia - this is what you show.
Best regards from Lothar

Hello Bernard and Lothar,
Just to inform you that since a couple of days a yellow-orange Hypocrea-Hyphomycete sp appeared on the back of the Hypoxylon fragiforme and on top of the tufts.
Doing some more investigations today (own or other conidia?) I found Heteroconium tetracoilum (cf Ellis & Ellis and pictures Pharmanatur) growing often around ostioles of diatrypaceous fungi in damp conditions
Â
I will try to send some microscopic (bad) pictures taken the very first days (e.g. 10 days ago)
Â
kind regards,
francine
