Stephen Martin MifsudCan this be identified from the macro-photos alone? I was attributing it to Aleuria aurantia... thanks.

Re : Aleuria aurantia ?
Hi, Stephen -

for me it rather looks like a Cheilymenia. The margin of the apothecia seems to be slightly hairy.

Hello,
given its size, I think Byssonectria might be another possibility. Anyway, a microphoto would help a lot here.

Re : Aleuria aurantia ?
Hi, thanks for replying. I checked the specimen under the stereo and I could not see and hint of hair at the margin. Those seen in the prev photos are some kind of dead moss.

Re : Aleuria aurantia ?
I am checking my database where I had a similar collection and was pinned as Boubovia nicholsonii - looks similar ?! Anthracobia nitida is another option but this has a more distinct grey margin.

Re : Aleuria aurantia ?
Cheilymenia-hairs are sometimes very inconspicuous. Only the microscope will help you, I'm afraid ...

Boubovia nicholsonii
Do you agree upon Boubovia nicholsonii due the forked bases of the ascii (and the smooth spores, etc!)
