Pseudovalsaria ?
Stefan Blaser, 19-03-2021 12:12
Hello everybody,

With this collection I ended up at Pseudovalsaria ferruginea but Spores won't fit.

So, probably I am all wrong?

Substrate: Branch of corticated deciduous wood; Collected at a very dry site.

Macro: Stromata up to 3 mm in diameter. Perithecia clustered in a valsoid manner, surrounded with a rather loose blackish brown entostromatal tissue. Stromatal disc tearing through bark, exposing slightly stellate, black ostioles surrounded by a dark brown tissue.

Micro:

Asci cylindrical, inamyloid, 105-137 x 10-12 µm, Paraphyses hyaline, septate, 1.5-2.5 µm in diam.

Spores dark brown, 2-celled, inner wall slightly rough-warted(?), with an inconspicuous germ pore, 15-19 x 8-9.5 µm.

Any help is very welcome.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Stefan

Re : Pseudovalsaria ?
Exactly, not Pseudovalsaria, but Valsaria.

Re : Pseudovalsaria ?
Perfect Alain, thanks a lot!

I have been misled by a germ pore I thought I had seen...

As a closer examination of the wood reveals most likely Quercus (pubescens), I think Valsaria rudis fits well.

Best wishes,

Stefan
