Stomata very thin, uniform black with fairly evident conical ostioles, mostly multiperitheciate but numbers vary greatly. No white or carbonous tissue below perithecia, these appro. 200 µm.
Asci, 8-spored, I+ blue, rather low. Spores medium brown  8,0-9,9 (av. 8,6) x 3,7-4,1 (av. 3,9) µm, n=6, without appendages; germ slit faint but full length and straight.

Hi Thomas,

I think I know this species - I had a collection from last year on Chusquea culeou culms, South UK. Like you, I couldn't easily identify it, so I PCR-tested it and got an ITS barcode (direct from perithecia).
It didn't tell me much, it was quite far from everything. Closest match was a collection of Lopadostoma cf. polynesium on Amelanchier by Alain Gardiennet - But only with 85% similarity.

Adding to the ambiguity, I read that L. polynesium isn't really a true Lopadostoma. 

I know that some users of Ascofrance have done studies on bambusicolous Xylariaceae so I wonder whether anyone else knows more?
