On Urtica
Enrique Rubio, 05-09-2021 20:01
Enrique RubioThese minute subsessile pale pinkish apothecia up to 400 microns in diameter grew on Urtica stems at 1750 m of altitude. The margins are denticulate by the existence of fasciculate hairs with smooth or only very slightly asperulate walls at the base of the terminal elements. These hairs, as well as the paraphyses, have well visible VBs inside the cells. Asci IKI b with croziers. Excipulum globulosa to angularis. Ascospores OCI = 0.
I think in the genus Psilocistella rather than Psilachnum or Cistella, but I would like to know your opinion.

Re : On Urtica
Hi Enrique

could you please send me this in higher resolution? Esp. the excipulum photos are too small. A possibility could also be a hyaline Pyrenopeziza, although I would almost exclude this.

Re : On Urtica
I see better now, especially the one hair with distinct regular warts, reminiscent of a Cistella. The superficial growth would exclude a Pyrenopeziza. Almost smooth hairs could occur in Cistella I think. The guttule in the hairs seems remarkable. Anyway, a good suggestion is hard to give. C. grevillei in a wide sense? But the long hairs and the guttule are unusual.

I compared C. cf. orientalis which I know from Eryngium. Spore contents are different. The type was on indet. stem. Regrettably I do not have Raitviir 1978 (K sistematike rodu Cistella) in digital form.

Re : On Urtica
Certainly there were few apos to make more preparations and study the hairs better. I will try to find more material.
By the way, what are the details of the Raitviir's publication on Cistella that you refer to?
Thanks a lot, Zotto
