Yannick

Re:autour de / around Lachnum
Good evening to all.
Here is another harvest of Lachnum which may be L. virgineum, found on wood of well decomposed decayed Fagus, on the ground.
Spores 7,7-9,6X2,3-3,2 um, Q=2,8-3,6, hyalin, smooth, sometimes 1 partition, without guttules.
Asques croziers+, octosporiques, 65-75X5-6 um, IKI +, biseriate spores.
Paraphyses 20 um protruding, without any gutulles, septate, hyaline.
Hairs of the margin with round, not truncated end, length until 150 um.
Do you see another possibility than Lachnum virgineum ?
Yannick

Salut Yannick
hair length is a bit high, spore width also. Is Dasyscyphella montana excluded? Do you have a microphoto of the hairs?

Hi Zotto.
Yes, I have pictures of hairs but wasn't be able to find my USB key.
Of course it's Dasyscyphella genus ! Hairs ' last cells is without incrustations.
Hairs tips are slightly tapering.
As D. montana spores wide <2,5 um, coult it be Dasyscyphella angustipila ?

For hairs, the last two cells are smooth.

But Dasyscyphella angustipila has aseptate paraphyses. Mine are 3-septate.
Have you got more informations about this specie, Zotto ?

Re:autour de / around Lachnum
D. angustipila and montana are now synonymized. I think the original difference was with the first or also second hair cell smooth, but that is variable and gradual. Spore width is 2.2-2.6, rarely 2.8, very rarely 3.2 (in HB 6874, see DVD).
In another find it was as follows:
Chemnitz, Einsiedel, Fraxinus trunk, soc. Lachnum brevipilosum. Asci *53-65 x 5.8-6.5 µm, with croziers. Sp. *6-9.5 x 2.2-2.7 µm, egutt. Paraph. narrowly cylindrical to sublanceolate, not protruding. Hairs 70-90 µm long, smooth, not tapering above, no crystals.
This seems actually a bit different from the above.
and a further one:
Ap. 1-2.5 mm diam, with cylindr. medium long stipe. Asci *63 x 5.5-6 µm, with croziers. Sp. *5.5-8.5 x 2-2.3 µm, egutt. Paraph. 1-2lanceolate, */2-3.5 µm. Hairs 100-120 µm, apex */2.5-3(-3.5) µm, cyl. to somet. spathulate, no crystals.
Well, I think its all the same.

Re:autour de / around Lachnum
Paraphyses are always septate, without any exception in the ascomycetes (if anybody observed the contrary, please you are invited to teach me).
You say your para protrude 20 µm. In the living state I measured up to 10 µm, likewise in the dead state.
Here the hairs of my Chemnitz find

Sorry. I found in Ain Raitviir key that paraphyses of D. angustipila are aseptate.
It's a mistake so.
