Re : effects of UV ray on ascomycetes
Dear Ghania
the benefit of UV in cultures appears to be that fungal cultures kept under normal artificial light (neon) miss some parts of UV which is present in sunlight. However, UV light is very diverse among the different lamps, so it seems to be difficult to give precise advice. Strong UV is also used for sterilization and is, of course, toxic also to the fungi.
Hope this helps a bit

Re : effects of UV ray on ascomycetes
Thank you very much zotto for your intervention.¶You know, I asked this question because I had a problem with an ascomycete which has not fructified and to cause fructification, I have exposed the culture to UV rays But unfortunatly, I found only asci with homogeneous contents.¶Impossible to identify it and I have done relation with UV But these last days I have found fructifications and I have identified it.¶Thanks.

Re : effects of UV ray on ascomycetes
I assume you mean that the spores did not reach maturity and therefore their content remained homogeneous? Or caused the UV damage to the spores?
