Picco > Melethemata Inauguralia

Re : Picco > Melethemata Inauguralia
Ciao Mario,
I don't see a need to write Vittorio Pico's name with two "c". He didn't and later Saccardo didn't and libraries doesn't. I consider this as one of the many errors in IF. His Name would be Viktor Specht (woodpecker) in German, Piccus wouldn't make any sense.
Additionally I don't consider "Melethemata inauguralia" as the proper title of his work. This means just something like "introducing writings" or maybe this was a formula to designate it as a thesis in those days. The proper title of his work comes on the next page: "Ex physica de fungorum generatione". This title is repeated in the headlines of the whole book as well.
My proposal for quoting this work is:
Pico, Vittorio. 1788. Ex physica de fungorum generatione. Torino.
Regards
Martin

Re : Picco > Melethemata Inauguralia
I must row back since I realized that the work comprises several chapters of which only the first is named "Ex physica de fungorum generatione". It is followed by "Ex materia medica de fungis" (p. 105), and more chapters dealing with medical issues of fungi, like poisoning. So Melethemata Inauguralia is an appropriate but not a "nice" title for this book...
But I stay with Pico with one "c".... ;-)

Re : Picco > Melethemata Inauguralia
I still see the need of an accurate research in Turin... And...
can we ask to "conserve" the name of an author, even if it's not a fungus...?
