Orange Ascomycete on giraffe dung
Hagen Graebner, 19-11-2019 22:08
Hagen GraebnerDear all - thses Ascomycetes are growing on culture on giraffe dung from Namibia. The small discs took some days (>2 weeks) to develop asci. no reaction with melzers, no ornament on spores, spores about 8-10 µm, globose. Does anybody has in idea. I dont find anything with watling and Doveri.
Maybe i am taking the wrong way..

Thanks

Hagen

Hello Hagen!

There is a lack of information and it is difficult to say. Presence or not of hair, observation of the spores (at maturity) outside the ascs at a bigger magnification, paraphyses, cells of the wall of the apothecia, etc ....!

Michel.

Sehr interessant. Könnte nach meinen Schlüssel das sein. Allerdings stört mich die Farbe. Aber wer kennt schon die Variationsbreite, wenn nur ein Fund der Art vorliegt. Kannst du mir was zukommen lassen?

Gruß Peter

Hello Peter!

Thank you for your clarification, I did not know this kind, but do you have a paper on it? Have you already found this kind in Europe? Thanks in advance.

Michel.

Hello Michel.

No, this species is only known with a find from Mexico.
