Calycina heterospora et autre
Yanick BOULANGER, 17-02-2025 21:29
Bonsoir

It is so that a very recent ITS sequence of a C. heterospora collection by Torsten Richter (Brandenburg, on Salix) fully coincides with Cylindrocephalum kendrickii. That anamorph has 1-septate cylindrical conidia formed in brown phialides with a long-cylindrical neck. The photos in the protologue (Wu et al. 2023) are made in dead state.

But your anamorph seems to be something else, with 3-septate conidia formed in ?hyaline phialides.

So, this taxon could be combined in Calycina and C. heterospora would get a valid name with Calycina kendrickii. I just looked up - Calycina is somewhat older than Cylindrocephalum.

Re : Calycina heterospora et autre
Yes, but the problem is that Cylindrocephalum forms a clade separate from the core of Calycina, at least with rDNA analysis. But C. citrina clusters even more remotely. So everything depends on which concept should be applied. Also we do not know the genetic variation of this species. Perhaps Cylindrocephalum zhejiangense is too similar to be treated as a distinct species.
