Xanthonectria pseudopeziza??
Jonah Benningfield, 16-01-2022 22:08
Hello,

I was hoping to get some feedback on this Asco I found in Mendocino, California last November. It was growing on a piece of woodchip, likely Douglas-Fir. My Mycology professor thought it might be somewhere in Leotiales, but all the similar species I could find were in Hypocreales.

Recently I came across some photos of Xanthonectria pseudopeziza, which reminded me of this observation. I'm definitely not confident at all though–the overall look and spores just looked similar.

iNat post here (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/101721194)

thank you,
Jonah B.
