Greenisch Discomycete on Acer

Good evening and Merry Christmas to you all,

I found this greenish Hyaloscyphaceae? on Acer pseudoplatanus in Scotland last summer. I first thought of Hyphodiscus smaragdinus but the spores are too long, the hairs do not fit and in addition, the ascus reaction is iodine negative.

Thanks

Maren

Bonsoir Maren, did you consider Eriopezia caesia ?

Hi Michel,

I had not considered E. caesia because the substrate was not Quercus and a subiculum appeared to be missing. But that can of course already be gone in the summer. Otherwise the features are fitting well. Many Thanks.
Kind regards
Maren

Re : Greenisch Discomycete on Acer
Hallo Maren,

It looks like a member of the Cordieritidaceae, The most likekely species is "Trichopeziza"viridula Grelet, a species close to what for a time was called "Hyphodiscus sericeus". This group is in need of a revision, if it is possible to get DNA out of it that would be great.

Herzliche Grüße,

Stip

chèr Michel,

E. caesia is IKI blue in ascus plug and hairs are different without subiculum, I am of a different opinion.
