Calycellina from Portugal
Lothar Krieglsteiner, 04-02-2023 10:16
Lothar Krieglsteinerthis tiny yellowish Calycellina I found yesterday on leaves of Quercus ilex in the Algarve (Portugal). I think it is not C. punctata (spores too fusoid, too broad) and also C. leucella that could be thought of does not make me happy. Who can help?
Yours, Lothar
Asic IKI + eu-amyloid, with croziers, 8spored (partly 4spored), Spores about 13,5-17/3-4,2 (not many spores free).

Re : Calycellina from Portugal
Hallo Lothar

not easy! I have a promising folder  "punctata-like Quercus ilex yellow 8sp" of a yellow species but the oil content is low. There exist pseudopuberula-like samples on Q. ilex with similar spores as yours but the VBs are hyaline, the spores have appendages, and the margin as hook-like processes. C. albida is similar but has 3-septate spores in the living asci. Not sure if I overlooked something.

Hi Zotto,
thank you very much! So it seems the specimen must remain un-named ... - as so often.
Yours, Lothar
P.S. I once again forgot the link to your folder pages - I hope you forgive me ... - and give it again :-)
