Hello all,
I found a few of these small apothecia (less than 0.5mm) with lilac/mauve hairs on lichen covered Banksia bark. SE Victoria, Australia
Asci without crosier's and I could see no blue in Lugol's; 31.5-36.3 x 4.3-6.6um
Spores 5.7-9.1 x 2-2.5um

this is an interesting collection! We have two apparently undescribed species from Australia with inamyloid asci, but they have larger spores with prominent LBs. From the colour I think our P. griseoviolaceus comes closer to yours than P. olivaceoviridis, but the spores measure *7.5-12 x 2.3-3.3 µm and have two big LBs. We have 3 collections from Western Australia on Acacia, Allocasuarina and Calothamnus.

Regettably we have no sequence of them. Your collection appears to be too sparse for gaining DNA?

Dear Peter,

A very interesting species you've found. I may have made a similar collection in WA about 4.3 km NNW of Watheroo (Coord: -30.263030 116.044650).
IMHO, one or two +/- freshly collected apothecia of only 0.3 - 0.5 mm in diameter, left dry and on a small piece (20-30 x 20-50 mm) of their natural substrate are sufficient for sequencing.

Many thanks gentlemen, unfortunately there was only half an ascocarp remaining.
I did have a look at the files of the species you mention and I would like to do more work on it also
This species grew on the bark in a moist chamber, I have rewetted the bark and several more pieces of it in the hope of growing it again and when I do I will send some for sequencing.

Just to give you a hint, in nature the apothecia develop during the rainy periods of the wet season. They remain on their substrate until they are eaten by insects. If not, they can often be found all year round, but are difficult to spot during dry periods. I wish you good luck to make some new collections.
