I remember the provisional name limonipilosa for what I earlier named mollissima, i.e. with yellow hairs and with croziers.

OK Zotto, great thanks for your message ! I will put Trichopeziza limonipilosa (nom. prov.) for this collection.

Best regards,

Bernard

Hello Zotto,
my question only for understanding:
mollissima: the whitish form?
limonipilosa: the yellowish form
of what was called mollissima (leucophaea).
Or am I wrong?
Yours, Lothar

Re : Trichopeziza mollissima (?) sur Fallopia japonica
It is a pity that these things are not published. They are results gained by Marketa Sandova many years ago. It seems she did not find time to complete her study.

Her unpublished data indicate that there exist different species, one with white hairs (mollissima), two with yellow hairs (limonipilosa with croziers and my autumnalis without croziers for which she preferred to use sulphureopilosa as nom. prov.). I am not sure if there exist two species among the white one, depending if with or without croziers.

If you look in the protologue of mollissima (by Lasch) or in Saccardo 1889: 403, you see that it is a "white or pale" species. Karsten when doing the combination did not mention the colour but it seems he followed the same concept as he used T. sulphurea for the yellow species with such spores.

It was my fault when I did the Beiheft, but I followed Dennis who - like me - did not make a difference between yellow and white populations.

If you search in the forum for limonipilosa you will find various posts where this is discussed.
