imperfect fungus on wood with ciliate spores
Lothar Krieglsteiner, 28-04-2022 15:13
Lothar Krieglsteiner.. collected in Portugal, Algarve, near Sao Marcos da Serra, 9.3.22. First I thought of a corticioid fungus, but it is clearly an anamorph. The spores have appendages on both sides and seem to be built in "packs".
Can somebody give a hint?
Yours, Lothar

Re : imperfect fungus on wood with ciliate spores
could the "appendages" actually be hyphae meaning that spores started to germinate?

No, I don`t think so.

Hallo Lothar,

Re : imperfect fungus on wood with ciliate spores
I agree this is Menispora ciliata. The conidia are distinctive. You can also see the phialides with characteristic recurved apices in image 13.

Hello Marcus, thank you very much for the confirmation of Thorbens determination - and for the additional hint!
